Welcome to the Music Program of Excellence, a comprehensive curriculum program spanning years 7 to 10, meticulously crafted to nurture excellence in music performance, composition, and appreciation. Since its inception in 2003, the Music Academy has remained an integral component of NVSHS's music curriculum, steadfast in its commitment to fostering musical excellence. Tailored for students showcasing a general proficiency across diverse music skills, our program serves as a gateway to senior General Music (2019) and as a compass for those aspiring to embark on music-centric careers in the Arts.
In partnership with NVSHS's Instrumental Music program, the Music Academy ensures a consistent flow of regular lessons and ensemble performances. It provides a platform for students with a fervent love for music performance to further hone their technical prowess through avenues such as QCE points, AMEB examinations, and IMEP.
Under the guidance of instrumental music staff and/or private music tutors, students are instilled with routine, discipline, and technical excellence, culminating in public performances, competitions, workshops, and masterclasses. Immersive encounters with industry professionals from diverse backgrounds enrich the learning journey, with repertoire sourced from cultural, traditional, and contemporary realms spanning various styles and genres.
