Bringing your skills together

Every year almost four millions Australians build and sharpen their skills by undertaking nationally recognised training. All students doing nationally recognised training now need to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI).

What is a USI?

The Unique Student Identifier or USI is a reference number made up of 10 numbers and letters that:

  • Creates a secure online record of your recognised training and qualifications gained in Australia
  • Will give you access to your training records and transcripts (available now).
  • Can be accessed online, anytime and anywhere
  • Is free and easy to create and only needs to be created once even if you attend multiple training organisations
  • A USI stays with you for life

Who needs a USI and why?

If you are a new or continuing student undertaking nationally recognised training you need a USI in order to receive your qualification or statement of attainment. If you do not have a USI you will not receive your qualification or statement of attainment upon completion of your course.

Your USI will give you access to an online record of the training you have done since 1 January 2015. You will also be able to produce a comprehensive transcript of your training. This can be used when applying for a job, seeking a credit transfer or demonstrating pre-requisites when undertaking further training.

The links on the right contain a ’10 step’ guide on how to create a USI number for your student.

Once you have created the number the form must be returned to the front office ensuring the student signs the permission slip at the bottom.

For further information you can click on the links below.

All Year 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 students must have a USI. Any students that do not must do so as soon as possible and submit it to the front office.
